What's New | Tom Ford Deep Mink Lipstick

19:00

Tom Ford lipstick in Deep Mink - my most contemplated beauty item of 2014. This lipstick secured a spot on my wishlist for some time. I'm sure you've seen it featured on my 'Christmas Beauty Wants' post. I had heard so many good reviews about Tom Ford lipsticks but I wasn't sure whether that was just because they are by Tom Ford or if they are truly the best lipsticks people have bought (as they've claimed). Many described the range as moisturising and creamy so my biggest fear was that the formula was going to be similar to the YSL Rouge Volupte lipsticks which I find have too much slip for my liking.
Initially I didn't know what shade I wanted, but from all the raving reviews, I just knew that I wanted one. As it being quite a pricey lipstick, retailing at £37, I definitely wanted a shade that I knew I'd wear often. Stuck between 'Sable Smoke' and 'Deep Mink', eventually I narrowed my choice down to 'Deep Mink' but let me tell you, I struggled to find swatches online of this shade. Doesn't anyone own this lipstick? Natalie from Discoveries of Self was one of the very few beauty bloggers that had a swatch of this shade and luckily she's around my complexion too!
I decided to go for 'Deep Mink' as I think it's a shade that is quite unique amongst the other lipsticks that I own. I usually tend to go for lighter neutral shades whereas this lipstick is darker and lean towards brown with a slight pink undertone. I'd imagine it to be a perfect nude for those of a deeper skin tone.

Have you tried any of the lipsticks from Tom Ford's collection? If not, do you plan to and what are your opinions on spending £37 on a lipstick?

  1. So glad you got it, it's my favourite nude, def leans towards the darker brown nude but still so gorgeous! Do you think you'll pick up any of the TF Lips & Boys? I'm still deciding, they look so small for the price TF or not!
BTW I swatched Charlotte Tilbury's Stoned Rose the other day because I saw it on your wishlist, now its been added to mine, it's so BEAUTIFUL!

    1. It was about time! I had been thinking about it for toooo long lol. I find I look like plain Jane with it on but it's perfect for those days where you're not feeling to look too made up.
You know what, I'm not 100% sure about this Lips & Boys collection. I've drafted a blog post on it and there are colours which I do really like from the collection but I know what you're saying about the price. It's kind of hard to judge from pics but when people put it next to the original TF lipsticks, it looks tiny!

Ahhh someoneee needs to buy me that CT lippy this christmas! I can't even see anything in person because I live so far away but I trust your opinion!

    1. Well apparently, Revlon 'Mink' is a dupe but if you really want to splurge try a Tom Ford lippy. The quality is quite nice! And yes I'll probs have a 'Lipstick Diary' post of it up when I get the chance xx

    1. I agree that £37 is a lot for a lipstick but if you ever feel the urge to splurge then... Lol

  6. It may not be a "wow" colour but I love the way this looks on you. I purchased this exact same colour after reading Natalie from DoS post too but I ended up returning it because it broke the 1st time I used it (twice!). It costs $50 (before tax) here and I couldn't justify keeping it after 2 faulty tubes. Still love the colour though.

    1. Thank you :)
How annoying! I keep getting scared that mine is going to break too! It doesn't feel too sturdy. They need to do something about it, especially at its price point.

  7. Like you, I got my very first Tom Ford lippie this year and I absolutely love it. I got it in Flame because I loved how bold the colour was. It feels so nice on the lips and most importantly doesn't feather which many oranges seem to do. Your post has given me ideas for the next one to get...since I've done TF bright maybe I'll look into a nude. Really worth the money but I find myself wanting to mise it so the 'engraved' TF doesn't rub off, lol.
